Join team LAMP!

OurSpace World, Inc is launching a search for a dynamic team of folx to be at the ground-level of creating the building blocks for a new, innovative, once-in-a-lifetime grant-funded project through the inner-workings of our Mid-Atlantic Land-Access-to-Market Pipeline (LAMP) program for Small Scale Specialty Crop Farmers of the Black Diaspora. The program is seeking applicants who are committed to the intensive, mission-directed nature of this project.

Founded in 2011, OurSpace World, Inc. (OSW) is guided by the principle of Ujima, collective work and responsibility. Since late 2019, our work has been organized into three main areas, Teach 22, The Ujima Initiative, and Calabash.

Our latest initiative, LAMP, will leverage USDA funded on-and-off farm technical assistance resources, creating a central hub for shared processing, storage facilities, equipment, procurement and support access to various farm-to-institution markets, beginning in Prince George’s County, Maryland.

All available positions will provide an immersive opportunity to gain experience and develop talents within a community of farmers, builders, cooperators, consultants, educators, healers, and committed leaders. You will be challenged with opportunities to work independently and jointly, express vitality as a problem solver, grow as a strategizer, challenge yourself to make informed decisions, sharpen your critical thinking skills, and adapt to fast-approaching challenges, ultimately growing within the varying aspects of the organizational spectrum. You will be rewarded by being a part of the solution of addressing land, capital, and market access concerns for small scale, urban, specialty crop farmers of the Black Diaspora within Maryland and Virginia.

One major benefit of being a member of OSW’s small, yet mighty Black-led grassroots organization is that you will have a front row seat and hands-on opportunity to learn how to secure and leverage resources to support and uplift Black farmers and other marginalized groups, and gain experience and understanding in regenerative farming, natural building, and outdoor youth education.

**Preference will be given to candidates living in Prince George’s County. However, candidates able to commute regularly to Upper Marlboro, MD will also be considered. Assistance in the form of OSW worker housing and access to a shared vehicle is possible for the right candidate. OurSpace’s work focuses on serving the needs of those of the Black Diaspora.

The Positions:

Finance Manager Fellowship

2-year full-time fellowship (with benefits) providing logistical accounting support to team members across all departments and with local Black farmers. $55,000-$60,000/year

Co-op Developer Fellowship

1-year full time fellowship (with benefits) to cooperatively design, build-out support and access resources for Black farmers.
$55,000-$60,000/year

Project Evaluation Consultant

4 year, part-time contract evaluating all aspects of the LAMP project
$35/hr for 20 hrs a week; 50 weeks of work per year over the course of the 4-year project = $140K

Farm & Aggregation Fellowship

2-year full-time fellowship (with benefits) providing support to the farm and aggregation sectors of the project while engaging with participating with local Black farmers. $55,000-$60,000/year

Procurement Fellowship

2-year full-time fellowship (with benefits) providing procurement support to the LAMP project for local Black farmers, with a focus on institutional markets. $55,000-$60,000/year

Marketing/Comms Fellowship

2-year full-time fellowship (with benefits) providing marketing and communication support organization-wide and to local Black farmers for resources available  through the LAMP project. $55,000-$60,000/year
